Manual Therapy

When injury, pain, or dysfunction occur in the body, it is often thought to be due to weaknesses in surrounding muscles. While this can be true, we can not simply re-strengthen those muscles as it will reinforce improper movement patterns that caused the injury in the first place.

Because inflammation is the body’s natural way of healing, we use hands on, manual therapy techniques such as  transverse friction massage to restore proper blood flow. Other techniques used are myofascial release, trigger point therapy, soft tissue massage, and joint mobilization/manipulation to restore proper mobility in the neuro, muscular, and skeletal systems. In cases of traumatic injuries not related to overuse, it is also important to we must regain proper pliability and mobility in the muscle, fascial, and joint systems, and then progress to muscle re-activation and functional strengthening.
